My Philosophy

My goal is to help my client know all of her birthing options based on medical evidence so she can have a safe and satisfying childbirth as she defines it. I am committed to supporting families in the choices they make. I view birth as a normal and healthy process, and I am not opposed to medical interventions; but do believe this path should be traveled very patiently.

• Continuity of care during labor and delivery

• I will attend a birth at any birth center

I offer a free initial interview so that we may get to know each other personally. We discuss philosophies of birth; and therefore, determine if we will be a good match.

On the second visit, we review your birthing options. I demonstrate massage and relaxation techniques that we will use during labor. We practice different positions for labor and pushing (including use of the labor ball). I encourage you and your partner to practice these techniques and become familiar using them together. If you wish, we also plan a visit to your care provider.

When you believe you are in labor, I will come directly to your home. We can labor there as long as you feel comfortable and then transport to the hospital. I stay with you thoughout labor, birth, and the initial breastfeeding.

Finally, within a few weeks of the birth, we will have a debriefing. We talk about all aspects of the birth. I help you realize the strengths you may have never known you possessed.

I hope you will work to achieve the birth experience you desire. I truly believe doulas can help you have that experience with the love and tenderness that every mother deserves!

What does it cost?

My fee for this entire service is $450.00. I ask for a $300.00 retainer to be paid by the second visit so I can hold open the two weeks surrounding your due date. The remainder $150.00 will be due in full two weeks prior to your EDD. In special circumstances, payment options can be arranged.
